Canadian Maple Leaf 1 oz Platinum Coin History:
The Canadian Platinum Maple Leaf appeals to investors and collectors worldwide for its beauty and purity, with the classic maple leaf design. Introduced in 1988 on the same day as the popular Silver Maple Leaf coin, the original Platinum Maple was available in four denomininations; 1/10, 1/4, 1/2 and 1 ozt (troy ounce) and was .9995 purity. Coins made of 1/20 ozt platinum were released in 1993.
2024 coins feature the first year with King Charles III. In keeping with tradition, his effigy is left-facing, as the Queen's was right-facing. Each monarch is shown facing the opposite way to their predecessor. When William ascends, he will be right-facting as was his grandmother.
